Cocktail Hour: Champagne Margarita

“If you like champagne margaritas and getting caught in the rain!”- Cait

We had asked our followers if they preferred a blog or a video of how to make specialty cocktail drinks for their weddings and events. The response was pretty even, so we decided we’re giving you both! Every month we’ll be posting a specialty drink that we think would be great for any event. The recipe will get posted on our blog and a video on IGTV will physically show you how to whip it up. We were hoping to make a reel but considering how great the content was, we couldn’t shave it down enough without taking out the real and funny parts. This is why we’ve decided that IGTV is the best fit to post our videos. If you missed our IGTV for this segment of cocktail hour, I highly recommend you head to our Instagram page or click this link @champagneandco.ca to check it out!

Personally, one of my favourite summer time drinks is a margarita. It’s refreshing, sour and sweet, and we all know you can’t beat the tequila buzz.

I had my cousin @chelsssmitth for this cocktail hour because I knew she would alleviate some of my nervousness(first time making an IGTV), and would also make it as fun as possible. Short back story: my cousin Chelsea and I were born four months apart and grew up together despite living an hour from each other. We are way more like sisters than cousins; that’s because we were either stealing food from each other and arguing, or making up dance routines to Britney Spears like besties do. Chelsea actually just launched her new business called @divinehealthandfit and is extremely knowledgeable in the health and fitness world. As a holistic nutritionist, she is passionate about guiding her clients not only physically but mentally. Check out her page for tips and knowledge on all things fitness!

When I asked her to be a part of it, she never hesitated to say yes! Here we go, let’s celebrate with champagne margaritas that is the perfect combination of lime and bubbles!

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces fresh lime juice

  • 2 ounces tequila

  • 2 ounces triple sec(orange flavoured liqueur)

  • 6 ounces of your favourite bubbly

I ordered a super cute shaker from #Amazon in rose gold for our cocktail hour segments. I swear it just makes it better so highly recommend getting yourself a cute shaker set for all your drink making needs. Link: @Amazon

Instructions

  1. Rim the glass with sugar or salt. We personally didn’t do the rim since we already have the dried fruit ready to make it look pretty.

  2. Cut slices of your blood orange and/or limes and bake them in the oven at 400F for about an hour until they are dried out. (PS: your house will smell so good!)

  3. Fill the shaker up with ice, add your lime juice, tequila, triple sec, and squirt a little bit of blood orange juice inside to make the colour pink(personal preference).

  4. Shake it up and serve in a coupe glass; then pour in your bubbly! Add your piece of dried fruit in the glass and voila!

  5. Enjoy responsibly.
